The second meeting of the Value Chain Academic-Industry Consortium will be held at the Murray Hill, NJ, location of Lucent Technologies, Bell Labs, on May 22, 2003. The goal is to facilitate exchange of ideas and information, in the area of value chain management, between the academic and industrial communities, and between researchers and those with operational responsibilities and experience, and also to motivate students in related fields. The first meeting in the series was held at Columbia University on December 6, 2002. Some of the topics that will be addressed at the second meeting are forecasting, optimal forecast-driven policies and inventory control in the supply chain process. Keynote speakers: Jose Mejia - President of Lucent Technologies’ Supply Chain Networks. Brenda Dietrich - Manager of Mathematical Sciences, IBM Research. Invited speakers include: Alex Brown - Xilinx Inc. Morris Cohen - University of Pennsylvania. Martin Haugh - Columbia University. Peter Jackson - Cornell University. Irfan Ovacik - i2 Technologies Inc. Panel discussion: (Moderated by Robert Phillips of Manugistics Inc.) Theme: “How best can Academia influence Industry? How best can Industry influence Academia?”. The meeting will be an all-day
meeting, 9 am – 5 pm. Ample time has been set aside for breaks
to allow participants to interact. Lunch will not be provided, but
the cafeteria at Lucent has an ample selection at low prices. The full program
will be completed shortly. There is no registration fee. To help with
local arrangements, however, participants are strongly encouraged to
register with the Meeting Assistant by email prior
to the meeting. Please provide your name, affiliation and
